    Hi, Years ago, I was diagnosed with several digestive problems that keep me from getting all the nutrients from the food I eat.The solution to this was simple: drink Boost/Ensure. Since the nutrients in liquids are absorbed easier. I've since stopped doing this several years ago because... well, it's freaking expensive. Even the generic stuff is $6-7. Drinking two a day (2-3 recommended by a gastroenterologist and nutritionist), equals about $17 a week, which equals $68/month... more than my electric and phone bill combined. So, I've decided to start this again, but I am wondering if there are alternative powders I can mix into milk, or a shake, or something that will give me the same nutrients, but for way less a price. The only thing I can think of is Carnation Instant Breakfast stuff, but I don't know if that'd be the same nutrients. Anyone have any suggestions? Any help will be apprecited.     Hi, I'm interested in doing a food-related project for the science fair this year, and have thought of comparing the nutritional benefits of organic vs. inorganic citrus fruits. I have several questions: 1) Is it possible to measure the exact amount of fiber in a particular food? If so, how? 2) What about measuring vitamin or mineral content in a fruit? I'm aware of the awfully cliché vitamin C thing, but what about vitamins A,E,B,D, etc., or iron and zinc? 3) Could you give me a basic description of paper chromatography?     Some foods are too delicious to completely let go of when you’re trying to reduce your calorie intake. For me, those things are a topping or dip of some kind that usually require an additional calorie-heavy food to deliver the tasty goodness to my mouth. If you’re dieting, it’s smart to replace the delivery method with something healthier—or just do what I do and forego it entirely. January i the month for getting your house in order, and no aspect of one’s life gets quite so… These delivery methods, or “vehicles” as I call them, are usually a chip, cracker, bread, or some other item that exists for the sole purpose of bringing tasty flavors from a bowl or jar to my eager tastebuds. For me, these items usually include tortilla chips for guacamole, pita chips for hummus, and pieces of toast for peanut butter, avocado, or sardines. Now, I know that each of those vehicles can add their own flavors and a satisfying mouthfeel to every bite, but they don’t help me shed my holiday weight. I realized that I eat most of these things as a snack—simply for the joy of eating them, not because I’m hungry. And when I start, I don’t stop. That’s a problem because it leads to me taking in a lot more calories than I need each day. So, I thought it best to ween myself off of my snacking by changing my approach.
